TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediactric First Aid (QCF) - 1 Day

 

This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to become a paediatric first aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended for learners already working, or preparing to work, in the industry. This course is the entry level Paediatric First Aid course and forms the Unit 1 of the full Paediatric First Aid Course. In many situations, if you are registering with Ofsted, you will need our full two day course. On completing this course you can then complete the Unit 2 course and receive the full Paediatric First Aid Award at ProTrainings.

 

This qualification meets the requirements for Paediatric First Aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014.

 

The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and comes with a Certified CPD Statement, as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and, for online courses, an Evidence Based Learning statement.

What will you learn?

Topics within this course are regarded by the Early Years Foundation Stage as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel.

 

Course content

Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider - Be able to assess an emergency situation safely - Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally - Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally - Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction - Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding - Understand how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock - Understand how to provide first aid to an infant and a child with anaphylaxis

 

Course duration?

The recommended course duration is 1 day with a minimum of 6 contact hours.

 

Assessment and Certifcation

The assessment of this unit must include both practical demonstration/assignment and oral examination. Continuous individual assessment by trainer and scenarios to practice skills. Certificate valid for 3 years awarded on the day.
